Subject: Re: [Q] Making pk fonts and modes.mf
I share Raymond Toy's surprise, but I would go further. Why get rid
of pk files that are clearly of local interest at the site?
Once Karl's improvements to the various utilities have made it possible,
I removed the "standard" set of compiled fonts altogether, and
set about letting my font library grow naturally. What I end up
with is certainly not going to be what your site needs, but that
is the whole point. You end up with a font library that has
a minimum of unused junk. It is a bit slow for the first couple
of documents, but from then on it is very satisfactory.
